Marjorie Taylor Greene - America First?
Segment #697
Pundits on the Right and Left have characterized Marjorie Taylor Greene’s recent break with Trump on (“shocking!!”) partisan lines. I see much of this as political noise that will disappear like morning fog. These opinions are driven by agenda; and, therefore, are as subjective as Jerry Nadler describing the success of his latest weight loss program. What is not subjective is the potential damage Greene is causing “America First”, the movement she still claims to be a part of. Below I have examined the issues that cause her to defect. I believe Greene to be politically naive, self serving, vindictive, and short sighted in her desire for revenge at all cost.
Marjorie Taylor Greene brands herself as “America First,” but her record mixes some populist, inward‑focused positions with a long trail of inflammatory rhetoric and erratic political judgment.nbcnews+1
What “America First” means for her
Greene has tied “America First” mainly to prioritizing domestic issues over foreign entanglements, criticizing President Trump for focusing too much on overseas matters, from Middle East policy to support for Israel’s war in Gaza. She has also invoked “America First” on economic grounds, arguing that tariffs and certain trade moves raised costs for U.S. manufacturers and consumers rather than protecting them.wunc+2
Where her judgment is widely criticized
Greene built her profile with conspiracy theories and extreme statements, including likening being called a “white supremacist” to using a racial slur and labeling Democrats “the party of pedophiles.” These comments, along with promoting false claims about mass shootings and the 2020 election, have led to bipartisan condemnation, removal from House committees early in her tenure, and a reputation for poor judgment even among some Republicans.wikipedia+2
Recent break with Trump
Her recent split from Trump over releasing the Jeffrey Epstein files, and her vote with Democrats to force publication, show a willingness to defy party leadership in the name of transparency for abuse victims, which some see as consistent with a populist “America First” stance. At the same time, the feud has been personal and chaotic, with mutual insults and Greene blaming Trump for threats against her family, reinforcing perceptions of drama over disciplined strategy.time+2
Resignation and political legacy (for now)
Greene’s decision to resign from Congress before her term ends underscores how polarizing and isolated she became, even inside her own camp. Her legacy to date is less a coherent America First policy program and more a blend of anti‑establishment themes, headline‑grabbing outrage, and personal feuds that many critics argue have weakened rather than strengthened serious nationalist or populist arguments.cnn+3

Marjorie Taylor Greene Issues of Contention
Jeffrey Epstein
Greene claims she is standing up for all the minor girls and women that Epstein abused both before and after his Florida conviction. Who could possibly argue against that? For a moment let’s pretend you are President and you have learned that Epstein on behalf of governments (ours included) did some horrendous things that if known could do more damage in death that Epstein could ever do in life? As distasteful as the decision would be, what would you do and what would you expect your president to do? I am not saying it is fair but what if this information undermined the very authority of several western governments? Is it worth it? For Greene to not even consider or take the time to publicly acknowledge that there could be circumstances, is politically naive.
Overseas Political Engagement
Greene has stated a number of time that she wants to see Air Force One parked until problems are solved at home. The idea that America First is a concept that requires isolationism is essentially political ignorance. Failure to understand that countering China in Asia, South America, or India is very much in the interest of the United States is absurd.. Getting NATO to buy weapons from the U.S. and take the lead in countering Russia in Ukraine keeping the US out of another way is very much America First. Fighting globalism, Davos, and International efforts to marginalize everything from the dollar to US international influence is certainly putting America First
Immigration
Greene seemingly believes that an immigration policy means closing the border and having Homeland Security send everyone home. Apparently, she missed the briefings where the United Nations and various NGO’s around the world were operating OUTSIDE’ the US facilitating the illegal migration. Isolationism doesn’t solve migration.. it is only the part of what government agencies must deal with to secure the homeland.
Israel
No doubt that Israel and their PAC, AIPAC, have too much influence in the US and over US politicians. AIPAC is the Largest Pro-Israel PAC in America “WE STAND” with those who stand with Israel. The AIPAC PAC is a bipartisan, pro-Israel political action committee. It is the largest pro-Israel PAC in America and contributed more resources directly to candidates than any other PAC. 96% of AIPAC-backed. This fact is certainly worthy of serious investigation. I appoint Tucker Carlson to run the investigation. But is Israel really the issue from a global perspective? I would say No and to understand Trump’s plan is to recognize that Israel is just one piece in the puzzle. For decades US foreign policy has focused on Israel and a two state strategy. It has failed. In 1971 Admiral Marmaduke Gresham Bayne (Commander Middle East Force, HQ Manama, Bahrain) consistently opined that our diplomatic efforts were far too pro Israel and anti Arab. I know because as his Aide I drafted several of the messages that went back to Washington. Fifty years later Trump understands what Bayne was trying to say. They key is not to support Israel to the exclusion of the Arab States. It is to support both making it financial and politically expedient to do so. So Trump will embrace both Israel and Saudi Arabia while operating a large base in Qatar and receiving former terrorist and now President of Syria in the White House. America First is not fighting a war in the Middle East, it is ensuring energy security for the US, and among many other things it is bringing Arab money into the US. Ironically Greene would have been wise to take one those AIPAC trips to Israel and the Middle East to learn a bit more about the subject.
Trump
No doubt Greene’s feelings were hurt when she let the situation devolve to the point where she was called a traitor by Trump. Really? She had no idea Trump was a bare knuckles fighter until he called her names? On Greene’s part this was stupid. She could have been a bit more politically astute and kept this behind the scenes. But she didn’t and now says her family is getting death threats. If she had not chosen a course that directly threatened and subsequently damaged MAGA and America First, it never would have happened. Greene professes to be America First yet it would be impossible to concluded that what she didactually helped the movement she professes to be a part of still today. She played into the hands of left leaning media who were delighted to use her to beat up Trump, MAGA, and American First. Marjorie Taylor Green failed on all counts. Temporarily, MAGA and America First will suffer blow back and some damage. It will recover. Greene will not be remembered for the good she did. Once the left has no more use for her the only clips you will see will be her trashing Trump or saying something outrageous. What a wasted legacy!
