Ibogaine - Is It In Your Future

Segment # 413

Ibogaine is a schedule 1 drug that is being politicized to the point that it has been ignored as a source of real help not only for veterans but also for patients that have no hope with the “standard of care”. Now that our independent platforms allow us to learn, we can make your own decisions… these two Joe Rogan episodes are worth the time to get the information to see if this might be an option for you of someone you care about.

With some of these drugs where medicine has virtually given up, institutional care still obstructs the right to try experimental drugs. On a personal level I do resent the hell out of this.

Ibogaine is a naturally occurring psychoactive substance found primarily in the root bark of the iboga plant (Tabernanthe iboga), native to Central Africa. It’s traditionally used in Bwiti spiritual practices in Gabon and Cameroon. In recent years, it's gained attention for its potential to treat addiction, especially to opioids, alcohol, and stimulants.

⚗️ What Ibogaine Does:

Ibogaine affects multiple neurotransmitter systems, including:

  • Serotonin

  • Dopamine

  • NMDA receptors

  • Opioid receptors

It induces intense, long-lasting psychedelic experiences that users describe as dream-like or introspective. Anecdotally, people often report "revisiting" past life events with emotional clarity.

🧠 Medical & Addiction Treatment Use:

Some small studies and patient reports suggest:

  • It reduces withdrawal symptoms from opioids

  • It may interrupt addictive patterns

  • It can create a psychospiritual “reset”

But it’s not legal in the U.S. and hasn’t been approved by the FDA. Some people travel to clinics in Mexico, New Zealand, or Costa Rica where ibogaine treatment is offered (often unregulated).

Ibogaine must be medically supervised, ideally with cardiac monitoring.
