What is Woman’s Health
Segment # 250
There is no bigger job than to be a Mom making healthcare decisions for her family. A number of young women will be voting for Kamala Harris because she will protect the right of their daughters to have an abortion. First the right to have an abortion was not eliminated. The right to have an abortion was a decision that was moved to each state to decide. So what is Kamala saying? Clearly Kamala is promising that she will sign legislation that will legalize abortion nationally. Given the challenges of the Commerce clause in the Constitution and a 50 - 50 split in the country this seems unlikely. So considering this and the probability of a young women living in one of this 12 states that have some sort of bans that exceeded Roe, maybe this part of woman’s health is obscuring the bigger picture. What are you really getting with the Dem’s plan for women’s healthcare? Some thoughts below.

As a resource, I will introduce you to four people that serve as advocates for our health choices
Calley and Casey Means
Calley and Casey Means are siblings who have transitioned from successful careers in medicine and lobbying to advocates for health and nutrition. They grew up in Washington, D.C., where they pursued prestigious educational paths, both attending Stanford University.
Background and Careers
Casey Means: She is a Stanford-educated head and neck surgeon who initially thrived in her medical career. However, after realizing the systemic issues within the healthcare industry—particularly how it profits from patient illnesses—she decided to leave her surgical practice to focus on holistic health and nutrition advocacy
Calley Means: He worked as a lobbyist for the pharmaceutical and food industries. Like his sister, Calley became disillusioned with the systems he was part of, leading him to join Casey in their mission to promote better health practices and challenge the existing healthcare incentives that prioritize profit over wellness
Advocacy Work
Together, they are co-authors of the upcoming book Good Energy, set to be released in May 2024. Their work emphasizes the importance of whole foods and lifestyle changes as foundational elements for preventing disease rather than merely treating it post-factum. They aim to shift healthcare spending towards preventive measures that encourage healthy habits like proper nutrition, exercise, and stress management
Their advocacy also includes raising awareness about the influence of food and pharmaceutical companies on public health policies, arguing that many health recommendations are compromised by corporate interests. They believe that systemic changes are necessary to improve overall health outcomes in society
Food Babe - Vani Hari
Yes, Food Babe is a real person. My name is Vani Hari – although for most of my life I looked nothing like a babe! In my early 20’s a health crisis woke me up from the processed food lifestyle that I was living and I made my health my number one priority. When I changed my eating habits, things dramatically shifted in my life. I went from someone overweight and sick to a new being of vibrant health. Social media has helped me create a massive community of people that not only care about their own health, but also want to create a safer, more sustainable food system for everyone. I call them the Food Babe Army. It’s crazy to think that someone who had no experience with social platforms, now has over a million fans on Facebook and several thousand on other platforms like Twitter and Instagram – but it can all happen when you hit a nerve and share your passion with the world.
With the help of the entire Food Babe Army, we have been able to force some multi-billion dollar food companies to change for the better, including Kraft, Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Subway, General Mills, Panera Bread, Anheuser-Busch, and Starbucks. Our work has been featured on every major news network, and I’m now a New York Times Bestselling Author and was named one of the Most Influential People On The Internet by Time Magazine.
My #1 best selling book, The Food Babe Way, will methodically take you through the healthy changes you can make to live a more energetic and vibrant life while still being exposed to the food system we have today.
In my 2nd book, Feeding You Lies, I blow the lid off of the lies we’ve been fed about the food we eat – lies about its nutrient value, effects on our health, label information, and even the very science we base our food choices on.
And, my first cookbook, Food Babe Kitchen, contains over 100 mouthwatering recipes from Baja Fish Tacos and Grapefruit Goddess Salad to Rainbow French Fries and an 8-Minute Candy Bar to show you how delicious and simple it is to eat healthy, easy, real food.
In late 2017, I started a company called Truvani, a start-up offering real food without added chemicals, products without toxins and labels without lies.
