Trans Women - Men of the Future

Segment # 132

Biden’s expansion of Title IX which goes into effect August 1, 2024. Anyone with friends or family going to college of high school should be concerned. This literally means that 6’3” 200 pound Lia Thomas will have the right to be in the locker room. The fact that a relatively small population of trans gender female athletes can legally violate the right to privacy of any athlete born as a female clearly means this case at some point will be decided in the Supreme Court. The fact that women must endure the humiliation of the locker room as well as the obvious competitive advantages is grossly unfair. DEI is nothing more than pitiful virtue signaling that the American public understands quite well. Anheuser Busch and Disney both were provided a reality check, however, it will get worse before it gets better. Wait until the first citizen is arrested for not recognizing the “proper pronouns”. So many things happening today transcend politics. I really don’t care whether you are right or left or black of white. We are now at the crossroads of good and evil. Because it is purposeful, it can’t even be called stupid. It is wrong and I am sorry young women most wait their turn for justice.

Title IX is a landmark federal civil rights law in the United States that prohibits sex-based discrimination in education programs and activities that receive federal funding.

Here is a brief history of Title IX:

Title IX was enacted as part of the Education Amendments of 1972, signed into law by President Richard Nixon on June 23, 1972. The key provision states: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."123

The origins of Title IX can be traced back to the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which prohibited discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin in employment and public accommodations, but did not address education.3

Executive Order 11246 in 1965 prohibited federal contractors from discriminating in employment based on race, color, religion and national origin, and was later amended in 1967 to include sex discrimination.2

The driving force behind Title IX was Congresswoman Patsy Mink of Hawaii, who is recognized as the major author and sponsor of the legislation.5

The law was intended to provide equal opportunities for women and girls in education, including athletics programs.123

In the years following its enactment, Title IX has had a transformative impact on increasing opportunities for women and girls in education and athletics. It has led to a significant increase in female participation in sports at all levels, as well as greater representation of women in fields like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).12

However, the implementation and interpretation of Title IX have also faced challenges and debates, particularly around issues such as sexual harassment, transgender rights, and the scope of its application.13

The law continues to evolve through legislative amendments, executive actions, and court rulings.5

From the perspective of a women that benefitted from Title IX when it started in 1972

“I graduated high school in 1972 and headed to college.  When I reflect back on my K-12 years, I am most grateful for the opportunity I had to play sports.  What you learn on the field cannot be taught. As the last of eight kids, with four being sisters, I am especially grateful to have had the experience of team sports, as my older sisters were not given that opportunity.

However, the opportunity did not come easily.  In grade school, my friends and I always played sports on our own outside of school, and we wondered why the guys had the opportunity to play throughout the school year, and we girls did not.  So, as 11-year old sixth graders, we decided to ask the principal of our grade school if we could have a team, too.  We received discouraging news, but we pressed on.  To placate us, the principal said if you can find a coach, then we can take another look at that possibility.  I am sure she thought that was an impossible task, but we were determined.  Much to her surprise, she underestimated our resolve.  Fortunately, someone knew someone, who knew someone, and we found a lady willing to coach us.

We formed a team and had to travel 40 miles to play games on weekends, but we were playing, and we were happy.  Grades behind us continued for years what we began.

As I entered college, Title IX was signed into law in 1972, carving out a place for women’s sports in public schools.  Title IX bars federally-funded education programs and activities from discriminating on the basis of sex, and it tasked public schools with creating equitable opportunities for women to participate in sports, investing in scholarships for men and women proportional to their participation, and treating male and female student athletes equally. It’s a revolutionary policy that was long overdue.  Over the decades, females definitely have benefited greatly,…physically, mentally, and professionally… and we are a better nation for it.”

Biden expands Title IX protections for pregnancy, trans people and sexual assault victim

In January 2021, President Biden issued an executive order directing all federal agencies to review existing regulations and policies to ensure they align with prohibiting discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation.1

In March 2021, Biden issued another executive order specifically focused on guaranteeing an educational environment free from sex discrimination, including discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.3

This order directed the Department of Education to review and potentially revise the Title IX regulations.

In April 2024, the Department of Education announced new Title IX regulations that undo changes made under the Trump administration.24

 The new rules:

Prohibit discrimination against LGBTQ students and employees based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics.24

Require schools to treat students consistent with their gender identity and allow transgender athletes to compete in sports aligned with their gender identity.2

Protect students and employees from pregnancy discrimination and require schools to provide reasonable accommodations.2

Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights also launched a comprehensive review of the Title IX regulations in 2021 to ensure they align with Biden's executive orders and prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.5

According to the sources, Biden's overhaul of the Title IX regulations will go into effect on August 1, 2024. Specifically:1

States "Colleges and universities have until Aug. 1 to comply" with the new Title IX regulations finalized by the Biden administration.2

Mentions "The regulations will take effect Aug. 1, the Education Department said, and will apply to complaints that occurred on or after that date."3

Also notes "Effective from August 1, these new rules prohibit discrimination and harassment based on sexual orientation and gender identity under Title IX. "So the new Title IX rules overhauling protections for LGBTQ+ students, sexual assault victims, and others will be implemented and enforced starting August 1, 2024, giving colleges and universities a few months to update their policies accordingly before the fall 2024 semester.123
