Politics Has Become a Charade
Segment # 233
Politics has become a charade from Act One through the end of every play. Once in a while, you get a glimpse of what is unscripted when a politician is just acting on first impulse. That reaction can be more insightful and informative than what they are actually saying. On the flip side, sometimes what is scripted in describing these impromptu moments can be equally telling. I remember very clearly the assassination of President Kennedy as well as the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan. These horrific events brought the country together.
We should pay attention to the fact that the attempt of Trump became a non-story very quickly, even though gross negligence was suspected. To my knowledge, not even one concern for Trump and his family was mentioned during the Democrat National Convention. This very obvious plan to avoid the topic ensures there will be limited opportunity for comparison. But let’s do it anyway.
Can you imagine anyone in either party reacting to being shot in the head with such courage, resilience, and sheer will than Donald Trump? Really?.... Schumer, Biden, McConnell, Pelosi, Newsome, Harris, etc., etc? Clearly, with what we know, the comparison is absurd. Most of us would loose it and immediately assume the fetal position. Love Trump or hate Trump…. Trump is a very unique man that has faced and overcome harassment, impeachments, lawsuits, indictments, and an attempt on his life, all while totally maintaining his poise and commitment to fight for what he believes in. Check out the segment below on some of Trump’s off-the-cuff moments and see what politician you can imagine doing the same thing.
And, yes, as an aside, we have heard that Trump is doing this campaign because he is selfish and greedy.
How has that worked out for him in comparison with previous presidents?
Trump is the only president whose net worth decreased in and after his presidency
And I am betting these figures are low.
Trump stopping to pick up Marine's hat blown away by wind is president's latest viral moment
The moment, at Joint Base Andrews, has lit up social media. By ABC News July 9, 2017, 12:16 AM
President Trump retrieves Marine's hat. The president lent a helping hand to a Marine who's hat was blown away by the wind. Hat-catcher in chief?
The latest President Trump moment lighting up the twitter sphere isn't a social gaffe nor an awkward moment with another world leader. Instead, it's video of the president retrieving a Marine's hat that was blown off the service member's head as he guards Marine One at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, where the president arrived Saturday on Air Force One after attending the G-20 summit in Germany. As Trump approaches Marine One, he bends down to pick up the hat and places it back on the Marine's head and pats him on his arm.
But the wind immediately blows the hat away again, prompting the president to chase the hat down. As Trump boards Marine One, he gives the hat to another military official, who places it on the Marine's head.
Trump leaves bulletproof glass to help woman at first outdoor rally since assassination attempt
Former President Donald Trump stepped out from behind his newly added bulletproof glass surrounding his podium to go help a rally attendee who was in need of medical attention.
During his campaign speech before a crowd in Asheboro, North Carolina, the former president was telling a story about how he sometimes sponsors athletes, including golfers and UFC fighters.
He paused to turn to look at commotion taking place to the left side of his podium. The crowd was heard yelling for a medic to help the rallygoer having an medical incident.
“A doctor, please,” Trump asked looking into the crowd.
“You’re getting them too worked up, Mr. President!” a man is heard yelling from the audience.
“It is very hot here, I notice. It is very hot. A lot of the people waited for days to get here. I understand it,” the former president said.
As medical personnel went to help a white-haired woman down from the stands, who had apparently collapsed, Trump thanked them for helping.
“Take your time, doctor. Take your time. Thank you,” he said.
The Republican presidential nominee then left his bulletproof protection to go into the crowd at the outdoor rally. While he was surrounded by Secret Service agents, he shook the elderly woman’s hand and gave her a hug as he checked on her.
The woman repeatedly thanked him for coming to speak to her as she was recovering with a water bottle in her hand. The crowd burst into “We love Trump!” chants.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC5cHjcgt5g ‘That’s down and dirty’: Trump talks cocaine with podcaster Theo Von
‘Cocaine will turn you into a damn owl, homie,’ the comedian quipped to his three million followers.
Donald Trump sat down for an interview with comedian Theo Von at his Bedminster country club
During the latest episode of This Past Weekend with Theo Von, which aired on his YouTube channel on Tuesday,
the topic of addiction and alcoholism rates in the US came up, specifically the fentanyl crisis.
At one point in the discussion, the former president turned to asking Von about his own drug use, before peppering him with questions about cocaine use in general.
Trump asked the podcast host how he “got addicted.”
“Oh no I would just do cocaine,” replied Von.
“That’s down and dirty right?” questioned Trump, adding: “But you don’t anymore?”
“No, I don’t do it anymore man and I’m not doing it,” Von said.
With his interest clearly piqued, Trump quizzed Von further about whether cocaine is a “stronger up”.
“Is it too much? Too much to handle?” he asked.
“Some of the stuff started to get a real rattle in it too,” Von explained. “I don’t know where we were getting it from in this country but yeah it started to make me feel like I was a mechanic or something.”
Trump, who is famously teetotal, followed up by pushing Von onto the topic of alcohol. “So the thing you go back to then is alcohol – for the most part.”
“Well-that-what I want probably is cocaine but I know that if I have a drink it’ll be like, ‘okay, well I had a drink then I can do this,” said Von.
“Is cocaine a stronger...up?” Trump asked. “So you’re way up with cocaine more than anything else you can think of?”
This prompted an interesting and slightly enigmatic reply from Von, also known by his give name, Theodor Capitani von Kurnatowski III.
“Cocaine will turn you into a damn owl homie – you know what I'm saying,” he joked. “You'll be out on your own porch, you know. You'll be your own street lamp.”
His curiosity unsatisfied, Trump asked Von if that’s “a good feeling.”
“No, horrible,” came the response.
“It's a miserable feeling,” added Trump, just as Von expanded at the same time: “But you do it anyway.”
