Newsom is Sibyl

Segment #584

The book and subsequent television film, Sybil, about a woman named Shirley Ardell Mason with 16 personalities, had a profound impact on the field of psychology. While the book was initially presented as a true story and helped bring attention to what was then known as multiple personality disorder (MPD), later known as dissociative identity disorder (DID), its accuracy has been heavily debated.

As a Tulane student and Psych minor, I was thoroughly fascinated with Abnormal Psych, a course that featured a character named Sibyl who literally defined multiple personality disorders. I am not a doctor; however, it is pretty easy to see the parallels with Governor Newsom of California, who apparently has forgotten that video tape is not like Mission Impossible. It lasts forever.

Governor Newsom can’t handle the fact that Trump is everything he isn’t. Gavin Newsom is the least authentic and certainly one of the most duplicitous politicians on the scene now. He thinks, acts, and moves in precisely the negative impressions we hold for the worst used car salesman.

Newsom Utter Failures in California

Economic and Fiscal Issues:

  • High Cost of Living: California has the highest cost of living in the nation, and critics argue that Newsom's policies, including tax hikes and minimum wage increases, have exacerbated the problem.

  • Business Exodus: Some reports suggest that businesses are leaving California at an increased rate, citing high taxes, regulations, and the overall business climate.

  • Budget Deficits: Critics have accused Newsom of fiscal mismanagement, claiming that his administration's spending has led to a significant budget deficit.

Social and Public Policy:

  • Homelessness: Despite a large amount of money spent on programs, homelessness has worsened under Newsom's tenure, with California having the largest homeless population in the country. Critics argue that the "Housing First" approach fails to address the underlying issues of mental illness and substance abuse.

  • Crime: The crime rate in California has been a point of contention, with some critics pointing to policies like Propositions 47 and 57, which they claim have reduced penalties and emboldened criminals.

  • Housing Shortage: California continues to face a severe housing shortage and affordability crisis. While the Newsom administration has set ambitious goals for new housing construction, critics say the state is "not even close" to meeting them, and that overregulation and environmental laws are major obstacles.

Infrastructure and Natural Resources:

  • High-Speed Rail: The high-speed rail project has been widely criticized for its massive budget overruns and delays. Newsom himself has acknowledged that the project has caused a loss of public trust in the state's ability to "build big things."

  • Wildfire Prevention: Newsom has been criticized for overstating the number of acres treated with fuel breaks and prescribed burns, with investigations revealing the actual numbers were significantly lower than claimed.

  • Water Management: Critics argue that the state has not done enough to build water storage infrastructure, leaving it vulnerable during periods of drought.

Other Controversies:

  • COVID-19 Response: Newsom faced a recall effort in 2021 due in part to public frustration with his handling of the pandemic, including business closures and other restrictions. He also drew criticism for attending a dinner at a restaurant called the French Laundry while urging Californians to avoid gatherings.

  • Unemployment Fraud: The state's Employment Development Department (EDD) has been criticized for a disorganized response to unemployment claims during the pandemic, which resulted in billions of dollars in fraudulent payments.

  • Political Maneuvers: Recently, Newsom has faced backlash for pushing a special election to approve a new congressional district map, with critics calling it a "blatant hypocrisy" after he previously condemned a recall election against him as a "waste" of taxpayer money.

Redistricting in California

Newsom acts as if this is the first time California has ever thought about redistricting and his current compaign is in responser to Texas. Not true. A recent legislative effort, signed by Governor Gavin Newsom, seeks to put a new congressional district map before California voters in a special election. This move is a direct response to a similar redistricting effort in Texas.

Currently, Republicans hold nine of California's 52 congressional seats. The proposed new map, which would be voted on in a special election, is designed to make five of these Republican-held districts more favorable to Democrats. If the measure passes, the number of Republican seats could be reduced to as low as four.

It's important to note that this new map will only take effect if a state like Texas moves forward with its own mid-decade redistricting plan. The proposed California measure is a temporary override of the state's independent redistricting commission, which was created by voters to remove partisan influence from the process. The new maps, if approved, would be used for the next three election cycles.

In the most recent presidential election, Donald Trump received 38.3% of the popular vote in California. This was an increase from his performance in 2020. Currently Republicans representation is 17 %. If it drops to 4, then the representation will drop to just under 8%. Newsom is lying and like Sibyl showing one more personality.
