It Takes Effort to Ignore the Obvious

Segment # 084

The Midterms are over and the strategic dissection begins. Political experts are unanimous in recognizing that a politician’s ability to connect with the voters and communicate their message is critical to success. So logically in a Democracy there should be an equal ability for opposing politicians to convey their message and then letting the people decide the merits. That is the very definition of what makes a democracy successful. And of course we pretend that this balance exists; but to believe that you would need to completely oblivious. An example below… Glen Beck sent a letter to the New York Times outlining the following stories that were either falsely reported or ignored completely. It is impossible for any fair-minded individual to believe that these failures had absolutely no impact on the reader in concluding opposition thinking was without merit. This is just one outlet… with CNN, Face Book, Twitter all admitting  on tape that they manipulated access to information as well. In a country where freedom depends on free speech can we continue to accept manipulation of the voting public? Clearly the answer is no.  And unfortunately the more you look the more blatant examples of media malpractice you find. But if your team’s opposition is being suppressed or manipulated, the information demi gods know that most will conveniently ignore it and will readily consume the pablum they are being fed. Is all this obvious?.. Of course. Because it never occurs to those eating the pablum that it could happen to them. In history it always follows that  when the gullible public ignores the plight of their neighbors ultimately it will eventually be too late for them to preserve their own rights. The other day I was listening to a scientist who was lamenting the manipulation of medical journals in suppressing scientific debate. The moderator asked the scientist for a solution. And much to my surprise the response was not medical or scientific. It was pure pragmatism. He said election reform. And in its simplicity it is exactly the right answer. With equal access to information Big Pharm could no longer control the dialog by buying media, politicians, and medical experts that will roll over for a dollar. Change never comes without suffering. And we will suffer over the next two years. But I guess if you are among those that are comfortably drinking the Koolaid, it really doesn’t matter, for the moment.  Check out the link at very end..the hosting is a bit amateurish by the video tape is spot on.

The government has a major role in pushing their own propaganda. The goal is always money, power, and control. If the private sector will [pay them money or back their political campaigns their agenda lies up and the USG has no problem using the their own propaganda machine to advance their objectives. Cool and you are paying for it.

You remember the debate on the Patriot Act who’s supporters insisted the powers of this act would only be imposed on non-American citizens. As we have found out under the Biden Administration this act can now be used against folks they identify as domestic terrorists. We have learned that  the old Voice of America used to promote democracy overseas was turned inward by Obama in 2013 authorizing US Government sponsored information to be made available to the American public. As you see below this enables US Government propaganda to be fed to the American public. I cringe now every time I hear the word global.

The U.S. Agency for Global Media and the media organizations that it supports can now make their content available in broadcast quality upon request within the United States.  This is due to a law that went into effect on July 2, 2013, amending the U.S. Information and Educational Exchange Act of 1948, known as the Smith-Mundt Act.  Amending Smith-Mundt for this purpose was part of the strategic plan adopted in 2011 by the governing board overseeing the then BBG.

The new legislation eases Smith-Mundt restrictions and allows the agency and its broadcasters to respond positively to requests from within the United States for their content.  Much, but not all, of this programming is now available online.  Additionally, the Agency can consider domestic requests for ongoing subscriptions if doing so falls within the agency’s mission and other statutory authorities.
