Cringe Worthy - What Will You Accept?
Segment #702
Politicians will tell you who they are, what they believe, and what they will do when they have power. Benny Thompson was infamous for his very important part of the J6 Committee coverup. He and Dems will never admit that the DC shooting was a terrorist attack. Thompson is not an idiot. He knew that he screwed up calling the DC shooting an “accident” and as he struggled to regain the high ground, Christi Noem hammered him. Having two National Guard soldiers both shot in the head with a 357 magnum by an unvetted Afghan is anything but an accident or even an incident. Calling it that more importantly is cringe worthy because it conveys the underlying dismissive truth about how the Dems philosophically and politically regard these events. How can that be acceptable coming from a senior Dem leader
Exchange on the D.C. National Guard ShootingA pivotal clash arose when Thompson questioned Noem about the November 2025 shooting in Washington, D.C., where suspect Rahmanullah Lakanwal (an Afghan national) allegedly ambushed and killed one National Guardsman while wounding another. Thompson pressed Noem on DHS's role in approving Lakanwal's asylum claim, which allowed him to remain in the U.S. after working with U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Noem deflected blame to the prior Biden administration's vetting processes.
The exchange escalated when Thompson described the incident as an "unfortunate accident," prompting an outburst from Noem.Thompson:
"Madam Secretary, you and the gentleman from the National Counterterrorism Center referenced the unfortunate accident that occurred with the National Guardsmen being killed. It was a tragic situation, but you've blamed it solely on Joe Biden. I want you to know: Who approved the asylum application for this same person? Your DHS approved it."
Thompson: "It was an unfortunate situation, but you're using it to push your agenda without owning DHS's role. Your department rubber-stamped it."

Noem: (interrupting, raising voice) "You think that was an unfortunate accident? It was a terrorist attack! He shot our National Guardsman in the head! This is not an 'accident'—it's the direct result of open-border policies that let threats like this slip through."
Thompson: (sputtering) "I mean, wait, wait. I'll get it straight, then you can— But the point is, your leadership hasn't fixed it; it's exacerbated it."

Noem later reiterated in her testimony that the Trump administration was "deploying the National Guard more aggressively" to prevent such incidents, tying it to broader immigration crackdowns.
