Auto Pen or Biden? Do You Really Believe He Signed It

Segment #511

OK all politicians lie a little. Biden took that to a new level over decades. Both sides of the aisle described him as a plagiarist and a liar. Like so many firsts in the Biden administration the former president has created a hell of a mess. The Oversight Project specifically claimed that Biden's pardons on January 19, 2025 (his final full day in office), all had the same autopen signature. Number of Autopens: The claim of "three autopens" appears to be an unconfirmed assertion. While it's plausible a large organization like the White House would have multiple such devices for redundancy or different uses, there's no official confirmation of this specific number.

Location: Autopens, when used, are typically kept in secure locations within the White House, often within offices responsible for processing and preparing presidential documents, such as the Office of the Staff Secretary or the Counsel's Office. Access would be highly restricted.

If we know that Biden compulsively and blatantly lied in the past, why should he be believed now on a number of critical issues from treaties to legislation to pardons?

On his final full day in office, January 19, 2025, President Biden granted pardons to:

  • Five individuals (Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Ravi Ragbir, Kemba Smith Pradia, Darryl Chambers, Ernest William Cromartie, and Don Leonard Scott Jr.). Some sources report this as five, others as six or seven. The Department of Justice lists Garvey, Ragbir, Smith Pradia, Chambers, Cromartie, and Scott Jr. as pardoned on Jan 19, 2025.

  • His siblings and their spouses: James B. Biden, Sara Jones Biden, Valerie Biden Owens, John T.2 Owens, and Francis W. Biden.3

  • Dr. Anthony Fauci

  • Retired Gen. Mark Milley

  • Members and staff of the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, and police officers who testified before the panel.

It's important to note that many of these were "preemptive pardons" for individuals who had not been charged with or convicted of any crimes. This was done to protect them from potential future prosecutions by the incoming Trump administration.

During his four years in office (January 2021 to January 2025), President Biden signed:

  • Executive Orders: A total of 162 executive orders.

  • Legislation (Bills into Law): The exact total number of bills signed into law is not as readily compiled and publicized as executive orders. However, some of the most significant pieces of legislation he signed include:

    • The American Rescue Plan Act of 20211

    • The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law2

    • The CHIPS and Science Act

    • The Inflation Reduction Act of 20223

    • The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act4

    • The Honoring our PACT Act5

    • The Respect for Marriage Act6

    • The Fiscal Responsibility Act of 20237

It's important to remember that the number of executive orders is distinct from the number of bills signed into law.8 Executive orders are directives issued by the President, while legislation is passed by Congress and then signed into law by the President.9
